Nigel Ford - Partner

Born in Kirkcaldy, Nigel graduated from Aberdeen University in 1981 and then completed a Post Graduate Legal Practice Diploma there before commencing full legal practice in 1982. His Traineeship was with the former firm of Clark Oliver (now Thorntons) in Arbroath. After working for many years in private practice and gaining experience at assistant and partner level in both court and non court related matters with other firms, Nigel founded this firm in 1991.

He is now a highly experienced legal practioner with a particularly vast expertise and is an expert in property law and conveyancing. He also has many years of experience in dealing with matters relating to wills, executries and family law and provides clients with sympathetic and professional advice in all of these areas. 

Nigel's interests include both watching and playing football, rugby (only watching nowadays) and many other sports. He is a lifelong follower and supporter of Raith Rovers and former Director of the Club as well as a keen supporter of Kirkcaldy Rugby and a supporter and season ticket holder of Edinburgh Rugby.

Nigel has been married to Fiona since 1985. They have 3 children all of whom attended Balwearie High School in Kirkcaldy.  His eldest two are Scott and Lauren, aged 24 and 22, both of whom have studied Law at Dundee University. Scott obtained his Honours Law Degree in June 2008 and has recently completed his Diploma in Legal Practice again at Dundee. He is now working as a Trainee Solicitor with Fords. Lauren also now graduated with Honours in 2009 and completed her Diploma in Legal Practice course also at Dundee in 2010. Lauren is now a Trainee Solicitor with Maclay Murray & Spens Solicitors, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The youngest, Julie (19) is now into her third year at The University of Dundee although is breaking the family tradition and is studying History.

Fiona Ford - legal advisor

Fiona hails originally from Bellshill, Lanarkshire. Fiona also graduated from Aberdeen University in 1981. She obtained her Diploma in Legal Practice from Dundee University in 1982 and, after many years in practice as a solicitor both in private practice and local government where she gained a wealth of experience in dealing with commercial and domestic property as well as private client work involving wills, executries, separations and divorce she helped found the present firm of Fords in 1991.

Fiona was instrumental in setting up Fords Property and in promoting and developing the modern approach which Fords Property has in assisting it's many clients in marketing and selling their properties.

Fiona, as well as being a legal advisor, now advises her other clients from all over south Fife who consult her in connection with her other successful business AllaboutW8/southfife. She is also currently back at University studying for a Degree in Nutrition.

Fiona's other interests include being a Season Ticket holder at Edinburgh Rugby and walking her 2 dogs.

Audrey Wilson - Paralegal

Audrey has a wealth of experience having worked in legal practice since 1987. She has also been with Fords since day one on 1st November 1991.

Audrey qualified as a Conveyancing Paralegal in February 2002  from Strathclyde University and is a Fellow of the Society of Specialist Paralegals. Audrey is also now a Registered Paralegal with The Law Society of Scotland having been one of the first to be accepted by the Society as a Registered Paralegal in December 2010

She is a  dedicated and loyal member of staff and is highly experienced and knowledgeable in all conveyancing and property related matters.

Audrey works as legal assistant to Nigel and is available to advise clients on all legal matters relating to conveyancing and property law.

Her interests include gardening, reading, Pilates and running although not all at the same time!

Scott Ford - Trainee Solicitor

Scott is a Dundonian by birth but has lived most of his life in Kirkcaldy. He attended Kirkcaldy West Primary School and thereafter Balwearie High School, Kirkcaldy before embarking on his legal career at The University of Dundee where he obtained his Scottish Law Degree with Honours and his Diploma in Legal Practice.

Scott began with Fords in August 2010 and, in his time with the firm, has demonstrated a very mature and professional attitude to clients. He is gaining experience in all aspects of the business carried on by Fords and, in particular, has shown a tremendous aptitude in dealing with all property and executry matters.

He is a lifelong follower of Raith Rovers Football Club. Scott likes all sports as well as being an accomplished guitarist having played guitar since the age of 5. His other interests include cars and current affairs.

Lynne Mackie - Senior Legal Secretary

Lynne comes from Levenmouth and has worked in legal practice since 1993. She gained experience in  all aspects of administration, conveyancing and estate agency  and joined Fords in 1997.

Lynne is a loyal and dedicated member of staff and has now accumulated a vast wealth of legal knowledge, with special emphasis in the area of property, conveyancing and private client work.

Lynne works primarily as legal secretary to Nigel and is able to deal directly with clients on many different issues.

Lynne enjoys cycling, walking, gardening and socialising.

Isabel Wheater - Legal Cashier

Isabel joined Fords in 2007 as Legal Cashier. She is originally from Glasgow and has gained a wealth of experience working with other law firms in Scotland as well as, for a period, being an Auditor with The Law Society of Scotland. She holds the SOLAS (Society of Law Accountants in Scotland) Law Accountants Qualification.

Isabel is also a qualified Paralegal in Wills, Trusts and Executries.

Isabel runs our very busy Cashroom and deals with all day to day financial, accounting and banking matters.

Isabel and her husband now live in rural Fife. When she isn't dealing with figures Isabel lists her interests as looking after her dogs and horses, walking her dogs and watching thrillers.

Amie Ross - Legal Secretary

Amie is a former pupil of Kirkcaldy High School and left there in 1999 to work as a legal office junior. Thereafter, she gained practical experience as a legal receptionist / property assistant in another Kirkcaldy law firm. 

Amie joined Fords in April 2002 and works primarily as a legal secretary to Nigel and Audrey.

Amie likes socialising with her friends and meeting new people.

Ann Bowie - Legal Secretary

Originally from Glasgow, Ann moved through to the east and joined the team at Fords in April 2006.  Ann worked in the insurance industry when she left school and then moved into the legal profession in 1990 where she accumulated a vast experience in both criminal and civil court matters as well as all aspects of property law including conveyancing, wills and executries.

Ann enjoys socialising and she is an accomplished Scottish trampoline coach. She also enjoys watching rugby and football.

Ann has recently returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child.

Sarah Thomson - Property Sales Associate

Sarah has built up a wealth of experience in property marketing and sales. She gained her NVQ in the Sale of Residential Properties and is now one of the few Estate Agents in Kirkcaldy with a recognised qualification in her field.

Sarah is a former pupil of Viewforth High School and joined us in June 2006 after gaining  experience in legal practice and property sales with another legal firm in Kirkcaldy. She is accomplished in all matters relating to property sales, administration and reception duties and also has experience in retail sales management.

Since Sarah joined our team she has continued to gain much experience in local property sales and will be glad to offer you informative, professional and polite assistance when you contact us. 

Sarah has recently returned to work from maternity leave having just given birth to her first child.
